Job Description:

Our Client is now searching for a talented and motivated Design & Estimating Engineer with demonstrable experience (of any level) within the piling, foundations, ground / geotechnical engineering sector. The role will be to provide accurate and efficient design and cost estimates for projects throughout the UK. The main responsibilities will be to produce complex designs, tenders, bids, proposals and quotations associated with all aspects of a variation of contracts. This will include co-ordinating with clients to produce a truly engineered solution; ensuring that all designs and tenders meet statutory legislation, regulations and client specifications.

 

The Role

 

  • The primary responsibility is to develop accurate and timely designs and estimates, and submit competitive bids and proposals for the company’s clients
  • Analyse and interpret detailed client requirements, drawings and specifications
  • Determine, design and price value-engineered alternatives to plans and specifications utilising all aspects of your expertise to submit bespoke bids and proposals to clients
  • Attend pre and post tender bid meetings with clients and their representatives
  • Work under deadline pressures in an efficient, composed and calm manner
  • Assist the business sector as a whole to meet their financial targets
  • Help to identify and develop potential new opportunities for work
  • Help to identify new suppliers / sub-contractors to improve safety, performance and profit

 

The Person

  • Able to identify the requirements of assigned projects to efficiently and effectively produce a wide range of designs, tenders and bids for all piling, foundations and ground / geotechnical engineering contracts
  • Accurately prepare designs and quotations considering all costs associated with the delivery of projects
  • Provide detailed hand over project files to the Project Management Team to allow for the successful delivery of contracts
  • Correspond and negotiate with clients, suppliers, contractors and colleagues
  • Efficiently manage situations when workload presents conflicting demands on time and availability, demonstrating an ability to effectively prioritise and schedule
  • Monitor, progress and implement controls to ensure tasks are achieved to time, cost and quality
  • Develop and select effective solutions to challenging and complex project requirements, taking into account risk and opportunity
  • Communicate facts, ideas and proposals to all stakeholders (internally / externally) in an effective and persuasive manner
  • Deliver efficient and effective customer service at all times

 

This challenging and exciting opportunity, based in the North West, requires an individual with a strong technical background and demonstrable experience in taking the responsibility for the production of piling, foundations and / or ground / geotechnical engineering designs and estimates. Alternatively applications would be welcomed from operational / project based individuals with the aforementioned sector experience looking to further their career within the pre-construction arena.
