The company offers a range of sustainable services, including various design offerings, waste classification and management, soil stabilisation/remediation, groundwater treatment, piling techniques and groundworks. 

Job Description:

Role Purpose

Due to continued expansion, an abundant pipeline of works, and the recent award of a number of contracts across London and the South East, our client is now looking to recruit a Setting Out Engineer whom will be accountable for providing an accurate setting out and recording service on all projects. Additionally these roles will provide direct support to the Site & Contracts Management team.

Responsibilities 

• To provide an accurate setting out and recording service on all projects
• Ensure setting out equipment is properly maintained and calibrated in accordance with the Company’s procedures
• Request the appropriate information from the Technical Department or Contracts Manager to maintain a file of setting out information, calculations and surveys for each project
• Extract setting out data from drawings (electronic copy) prior to arriving on site
• Checking of base stations prior to commencement of works, and at regular intervals during the currency of each project, as written confirmation / sign off of known base stations is required from the Client / Principle Contractor
• Clearly communicate setting out and control information to the site teams
• Carry out pre-start surveys prior to any excavation works, and if required record dimensions of hard break out / soft spots etc., and inform the Contracts Manager accordingly
• As-Built recording, ensuring all reinforcement has been installed as per drawings prior to pouring
• Record any instructions to confirm any changes to setting out information, as Engineers need to be mindful of the contract programme 
• Report any safety / quality / environmental incidents or non-conformances to the Contracts Manager
• Ensure work is delivered snag and defect free
• Comply with Company Procedures in accurate and timely setting out of works
• Report to the Contracts Manager of ongoing issues keeping him informed of any potential project problems that could affect the business

The Person

• Possessing setting out experience, with a proven track record in the Civil Engineering, Piling / Foundations and / or remediation sectors
• To have experience of a variety of projects and clients, with good levels of experience at both pre and post contract stages
• Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, being able to relate to people at all levels in an organisation, and to establish and maintain respect both professionally and personally 
• Should be robust and resilient, possessing drive, determination and natural enthusiasm, and be a team player
• Must have excellent time management skills, being able to effectively prioritise against deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Proficient in the use AutoCAD, a one man robotic total station, and all other setting out and surveying equipment, and the ability to produce detailed programmes using ASTA Project would be advantageous 
• Recording all site related activities, and offer total support to the Site / Contracts Managers to allow for the safe, timely and profitable delivery of works / schemes
